Ο χορός και οι συζητήσεις (λέμε τώρα) αρχίζουν να παίρνουν τα πάνω τους, καθώς είμαστε πια σχεδόν ένα μήνα πριν την ανακοίνωση των υποψηφιοτήτων της Ακαδημίας (24 Ιανουαρίου). Από δω και μπρος οι μέρες μεγαλώνουν, το διαφημιστικό παιχνίδι παίρνει φωτιά, οι πλάστιγγες των φαβορί και των αουτσάιντερ αρχίζουν να ανεβοκατεβαίνουν.
Ανακοινώθηκαν λοιπόν οι λίστες προεπιλογής 10 κατηγοριών – Ντοκιμαντέρ, Διεθνής Ταινία, Μικρού Μήκους Ντοκιμαντέρ, Μακιγιάζ και Κομμώσεις, Μουσική και Τραγούδι, Animation Μικρού Μήκους, Ήχος, Οπτικά Εφφέ και Μικρού Μήκους. Κάθε λίστα αποφασίστηκε από μέλη της κατηγορίας υπό βράβευση, εκτός από την κατηγορία της Διεθνούς Ταινίας στην οποία καλούνται μέλη από όλες τις κοινότητες ακαδημαϊκών μελών. Ποιοι από αυτούς καθορίζεται πάντως και από κριτήρια αριθμού θεάσεων, με άλλα λόγια άμα έχεις δει δυο έργα δεν πας πουθενά, πρέπει να δουλέψεις.
Στα δικά μας κάποιοι λυπούνται (ή παραξενεύονται) που απουσιάζουν τα «Μαγνητικά Πεδία» του Γιώργου Γούση, ίσως οι ελπίδες να ήταν δικαιολογημένες καθώς φέτος αυξήθηκε και ο αριθμός των ταινιών της λίστας από 10 σε 15. Ωστόσο η λίστα έχει γερά χαρτιά, με παρόντα τα Corsage (Αυστρία), Close (Βέλγιο), Επιστροφή στη Σεούλ (Καμπότζη), A Quiet Girl (Ιρλανδία – ιαχές ακούγονται), Μπλε Καφτάνι (Μαρόκο), Joyland (Πακιστάν – 1η του φορά), EO (Πολωνία), Απόφαση Φυγής (Νότιος Κορέα) και Holy Spider (Δανία), όλες τους πλην του πρώτου παρουσιασμένες πρώτη φορά στην χώρα μας στις Νύχτες Πρεμιέρας.
Στη μουσική έχουμε ωραία πράγματα, αναπόφευκτα και παραλείψεις (Ρος και Ρέζνορ θα πουν κάποιοι, ήταν και με δύο ταινίες νομότυποι), αλλά αφού είναι μέσα ο Κάρτερ Μπέργουελ των «Πνευμάτων του Ινισέριν» («και ο Τζον Γουίλιαμς!», διαμαρτύρεται ο Π.Γκ.) κάνουμε ότι είμαστε καλά. Στο Τραγούδι δε, έχουμε μια απ’ όλα, με LCD Soundsystem και Τέιλορ Σουίφτ, με Ριάνα, Lady Gaga, Σελένα Γκόμεζ και Νταϊάν Γουόρεν! Μάχη.
